Expertise and career highlights

Russell joined SFA (Oxford) as a Data Analyst in 2024. He provides a diverse range of data-driven solutions to the team, including SQL database management and data visualisation. Russell also co-authors the weekly Heraeus Precious Appraisal and plays a supporting yet expanding role in battery metals consulting.

Prior to joining SFA (Oxford), Russell earned a degree in Biomedical Science. Graduating during the Covid-19 pandemic, he played a critical role in mapping the spread of novel variants across the country. This experience exposed him to the potential of big data and inspired him to enhance his programmatic and statistical expertise to unlock this growing domain.

Russell went on to achieve an MSc with distinction in Health Data Science and Statistics, where he advanced his capabilities in database design and implementation, statistical analysis using Python and R, and network visualisation. His specialisation in AI, particularly machine learning methods, culminated in the creation of a bespoke deep learning neural network capable of classifying and predicting Alzheimer’s cases—up to two years before presentation—from a single blood marker.
